Assigning and recording unique student usernames
in Technology Product System
By using a unique username the research team will be able match the students’ use data that is captured by the technology product system (e.g., what types of things do they do in the technology product, when, and how often) with data from institutional records (e.g., demographics, TABE results, GED passing status].
This will allow us to examine the extent to which (1) students use of the product differs for different types of students (e.g., age, gender, baseline TABE scores) and (2) the extent to which different types and levels of use are associated with variation in student outcomes (e.g., performance on assessments, GED passing status, course completion etc.)
Student confidentiality and privacy will be protected. Before analysts work with the data, all identifiers for instructors and students will be removed from the analysis files and replaced with an anonymous research ID. No results will be reported out at the individual level or the instructor level and no individual student or instructor will be named in any of the study reports.
What you need to do?
Each instructor participating in the TABLE study will need to provide a TABLE Study Class Roster, preferably using Microsoft Excel, to primary contact for study at the site (see contact info. below) that includes the students’ username and other important information about the course and the student.
The attached table shows the details needed for each student in your course who is participating in the study.
How frequently should you update the TABLE Study Class Roster file?
You should complete the roster at the beginning and end of each session or semester that the course runs. If you have an open enrollment policy, the roster should be updated at a frequency recommended by the SRI Research team.
